A well-made instrument is important and necessary for beginning students. All brands are not equal in quality.

Over the last few years, on the Internet and through some local establishments, the availability of cheaper (lesser quality) musical instruments has grown. These instruments can look and sound like quality musical instruments. Most of the problems occur because the instruments need to be repaired repeatedly, parts cannot be obtained or the instruments cannot be repaired at all. Also, your place of purchase should have an in-house repair department, so that repairs can be made quickly and efficently. We have seen people waste money by purchasing or renting these cheaper instruments and end up spending much more on repairs. They are then stuck with an instrument that does not play well. This will set the student up for failure.
